System Requirements for Enscape and PC Recommendations

Enscape is a powerful real-time rendering and virtual reality plugin widely used in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industries. It lets users visualize their designs interactively, providing a glimpse into how a project looks and feels before it’s built. To make the most of this robust tool, it is essential to understand its system requirements and have the right PC specifications. This blog, iRender will explore what you need to run Enscape efficiently and optimally.

Enscape Official System Requirements

According to the official website of Enscape, the most up-to-date hardware specifications for Enscape, as of version 3.4.4, are outlined here.

Perspective on the Official Enscape Hardware Specifications

1. CPU (Processor) Requirements

It—and similar rendering applications—primarily relies on the CPU for non-rendering tasks, such as managing the user interface and loading scene data. However, this does not imply that the CPU is insignificant. A sluggish CPU that causes delays in the user interface or prolongs scene loading times can greatly hinder workflow and overall productivity.

The CPU recommendation must also consider what application(s) you might use alongside Enscape.

If you’re planning to use Enscape alongside 3D software such as SketchUp, Revit, etc., and want a CPU that will last you a long while without breaking the bank, then I would suggest taking a look at the Intel i5-13600K or the slightly older i5-12600K if you can grab it for cheap.

If you find yourself in need of more power in the future, upgrading to an i7 or i9 processor is a straightforward option. Alternatively, if you prefer AMD, the Ryzen 9 7900X or 7900X3D offers excellent performance for its value.

2. GPU (Video Card) Requirements

Like any rendering software, the most crucial component of a PC—the one that will be utilized the most by the application—is the GPU.

Depending on your requirements, a mid-range GPU can suffice for your needs. However, it’s important to have at least 4 GB of VRAM, or 6 GB being the current minimum. This is essential because Enscape uses VRAM to store scene data during rendering. While a slower GPU will still allow you to render your projects, the process may take longer.

For a GPU that doesn’t have enough VRAM or if you’re building a new PC, you can just buy an NVIDIA RTX 3060 or AMD RX 6600 XT and you’ll be able to render almost any scene you throw at Enscape.

However, if you want even more performance, CUDA Cores & Stream Processors, and VRAM for faster rendering, I’d recommend looking at the RTX 4080/4090 or AMD RX 6950 XT.

3. RAM (Memory) Requirements

Enscape adheres to the same RAM guidelines as many other software applications. Having a minimum of 16 GB of RAM will ensure that you are adequately equipped.

Performance Requirements for Different Enscape Applications

1. Simple Projects

For basic projects with polygon counts ranging from 50,000 to 200,000, the minimum specifications will generally suffice. These projects utilize lower poly counts, simpler textures, and minimal advanced lighting effects, allowing users to achieve satisfactory results even on mid-range systems.

  •  GPU with 4 GBs of VRAM
  • RAM: 6-8 GBs

2. Moderate Projects

As project complexity increases, featuring higher polygon counts (200,000 to 500,000) and more detailed textures, upgrading to an Intel i7 or AMD Ryzen 7 processor, along with a more powerful GPU such as the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 or AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT with at least 6 GB of VRAM, will significantly boost performance.

3. Complex Projects

If you’re working on highly detailed scenes with polygon counts exceeding 500,000 and extensive use of advanced lighting and effects, investing in top-tier hardware is crucial. Consider opting for an Intel i9 or AMD Ryzen 9 CPU, paired with a high-end GPU like the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 or 3090, and increasing your RAM to 32 GB or more for smooth performance.

Conclusion

Enscape is a fantastic tool for visualization, and understanding its system requirements can make a significant difference in your workflow. By meeting or exceeding the recommended specifications, you’ll ensure you can utilize its full potential without frustrating downtime due to hardware limitations. Whether you are a seasoned professional or just starting in visualization, investing in the right PC gear will help you create stunning, lifelike renderings that can captivate your audience.

If you’re planning to upgrade your system or build a new one for Enscape, consider your specific needs and future projects. With the right setup, you’ll be able to bring your architectural visions to life with ease and efficiency. Happy rendering!
