Blender is a free and open-source 3D creation suite. It is a cross-platform software that supports the entire 3D pipeline. Namely, modeling, rigging, animation, simulation, rendering composting and motion tracking. If that should not be enough for you, how about an integrated game engine?

With the release of Blender 2.8, the program completely renovated its surface: numerous icons and interactive tools make getting started, everyday work easier, and has the possibility to customize workspaces. On top, the new physically real-time rendering engine Eevee replaces the aging internal renderer and supports rendering still frames, animations, compositing, and sequencer.

Blender has finally leveled up. On December 3, 2021, the Blender Foundation released Blender 3.0 – the first total version change for the incredibly powerful and widespread open-source visual software in over 21 years. There’s a lot of good new stuff in this release. In the last article, we’ve dug into the latest update to take a look at it from Cycles performance perspective. In this article, join us as we throw all of the current-gen GPUs from GeForce and Radeon at EEVEE and the viewport.

When rendering, each GPU will render one tile (following the settings on the performance tab). The more GPUs, the more tiles are rendered simultaneously, so two GPUs will make a huge difference in Cycles by decreasing rendering time almost to one half.

Enscape is a game-engine style rendering engine that has plugins available for Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, and ArchiCAD. It is a proprietary, simple program that allows you to view your models. Although it is very easy to use, it lacks the functionality and flexibility that other tools such as Blender’s Eevee (extremely powerful, free, and open-source), Unity (offers free versions), and Unreal Engine allow. One of the functions that Enscape has is the ability to set camera keyframes and export a short animation of your building model. However, Enscape does have an option to export out an XML file saving the camera positions.
