Wysilab releases Instant Terra plugins for UE4
Instant Terra is a node-based 3d software developed by Wysilab to help professional artists generate Ultra-fast terrains. Instant Terra allows artists to create terrains with the help of a node-based editor. It’s a procedural tool aimed at generating very large landscapes in real-time (16K or 32K terrains!). The first version was released in February 2018. It allows you to create your terrain in Instant Terra and send it to Unreal Engine in one click. No painful import process anymore.
Wysilab has made their Instant Terra plugins available in early access for Unreal Engine 4.26, 4.27, or 5. Instant Terra is a fast, lightweight tool for creating animatable terrain complete with surface water features, particularly for games and real-time projects.
- Procedural terrain creation
Procedural tools bring power to digital tools: Instant Terra ensures a non-destructive, process, whatever the size or complexity of your terrain.
- Standalone, node-based tool
Instant Terra links nodes to create graphs. Changing any parameter of a node at any time recomputes the graphs and the results are displayed immediately.
- Maximum control in real time
Use masks to protect some areas from global actions, or use them as per-vertex coefficients to be considered by the calculations.
- Final resolution
Work directly in the final resolution, whatever the size of your terrain, and see final terrain in real time with all its details.
Launch Instant Terra projects from inside Unreal Engine, or import existing projects
Wysilab has released a new plugin streamlining the process of importing terrains created inside Instant Terra, its 3D landscape generation software, into Unreal Engine. The plugin, which is currently available in early access, imports both new and existing Instant Terra terrains into the game engine, automatically setting up an Unreal Engine landscape and shaders.
Instant Terra is a fast, lightweight tool for creating animatable terrain complete with surface water features, particularly for games and real-time projects.
The new plugin takes its integration with another key game development tool, Unreal Engine, a step further, making it possible to initiate terrain creation from inside the game engine.
Users can then edit the terrain inside Instant Terra itself, and send the results back to Unreal Engine.
Terrains can be exported to layers within Unreal Engine’s Landscape Material – there are readymade layer types for grass, rocks and snow – complete with masks generated in Instant Terra.
As well as creating new terrains, the plugin can be used to import existing Instant Terra projects into Unreal Engine, automatically generating the node network necessary for the Unreal Engine project.
Instant Terra system requirements
The Instant Terra plugin for Unreal Engine is compatible with Instant Terra 2.2.3+ and Unreal Engine 4.26 or the public previews of Unreal Engine 4.27 and Unreal Engine 5.
Instant Terra itself is available for Windows 7+ only. A perpetual licence costs $149 for 8K export; $199 for unlimited resolution. The Pro edition, aimed at larger studios, is priced on enquiry.
