Using Blender Free Addon for making Architecture 3D Modeling

Blender is an excellent tool for architectural visualizations of interiors and exteriors. There is a large number of helpful third-party tools that help speed up or perfect the workflow for creating such visualizations.

Today, in this article, let’s learn how to use Blender free addon for making a 3D architecture model with artist B! Let’s get started!

He will use the floor plan as a reference. First of all, you need to open Blender, delete the default objects then go to the Top View, drag into Viewport, select it, and move it to the origin.

Next, you need to go to the Objects Data Properties and scale it up here:

So now we can activate an Add-on for Building Architecture 3D models. The step is: Go to the Edit > Preferences > Addons > and search Archimesh. Check the box to activate. Now you go to the tab Create, and we have the Archimesh menu.

Add Walls for Rooms

Firstly, we can build the wall and we can click room to have a wall and move it. We can increase the thickness of the wall and increase the length as well. If we want to add the wall, we can increase the number of walls here:

We can do the same with the second and third walls. Then the final wall, we can check the box Close Walls. We can have an option to make a baseboard, we can increase the width and make it visible.

The next step, we can build the inside wall. You go to the Top View, create room to add a new wall, move it down and rotate it, click Ctrl to snap, and increase the thickness and the length.

In 3D, there’s a problem if two surfaces are together, so we suggest that height decrease a bit. Same as before, we can increase the width of the baseboard and then build the wall of the bathroom, click room to add new all, move it and rotate, and click CTRL to snap.

Add Doors

Now, that all the walls are built, we can add the elements into the scene. For example, we can add Door, windows, cabinets, etc like the picture as shown below:

In this video, the author will show us how to add a door. So the step is to click Door and select the door group, and we can move the door. You go to the Top View > switch to X-ray Mode, add Wireframe, and move it. Now we can select the hierarchy and copy-paste.

Now we can see that the door opening direction is on the right, but the handle is on the left, we can go to the door frame and use rotation, enter 180 degrees to correct the direction, and move it.

Then we can duplicate this step. We can go to the Door frame to adjust the sĩe, increase the frame width, and adjust the height and the thickness. Now, all the doors are built.

Add Rail Windows

Now we can add windows, we have the option to add rail windows.

Click on Add > Select Window Group to move it. You go to the Top View and adjust the position. We can go to the window frame to increase the width and select the window group again, moving it to a one-meter height.

Move to the next wall, you can go to the window frame and back to the panel, rotate it to 180 degrees, and move it down. You do the same with bathrooms. In the window panel, we can choose another size of the window. Now all the walls, doors and windows are built.

You can make a hole in the wall by going to Solid Mode > select the wall > click the button Autoholes.

We have the option to add floor and ceiling. You go to the main wall, and check the box to activate the floor and the ceiling.

In addition, we can show the dimensions of it. You click to show it and we can adjust the size and the distance of the measurement we can hide it and then we can set a render preview. We can close this panel and add the sunlight.

Make 3D Floor Plan Render Preview

You go to Front view, and R to rotate, switch to Vycles and check the render preview. Select sunlight and go to object properties and we can increase the strength. Actually, there’s some problem if two surfaces are together. This Black Edge comes from the baseboard so we need to go to the modifier to adjust it, to make the surface separate make it to all walls.

That’s how to make an architecture 3D model from the floor plan! Hope this article will be helpful for you to make architecture 3D modeling.
