  • Unreal Engine has a Sequencer. It’s the integrated nonlinear editor of Unreal Engine that lets you make stunning animations, cutscenes for in-game content, and more.
  • Moreover, we all know Skeletal Animation Systems. This is used for animating 3D organic characters, such as humans, animals, and monsters. 
  • Control Rig is in order to animate an object according to the animator’s objectives, a 3D model must first have its bone structure created. This procedure is known as rigging. Control Rig is Unreal Engine’s method for creating pose-based deformations directly within the engine.
  •  Moreover, with Physic-Based Animation, Unreal Engine offers tools for modeling physics-based animation, such as rigid bodies, fluids, and materials. 
  • With the use of a visual scripting system – Animation Blueprints, we can create complicated animation logic, including the ability to mix and match animations and modify them dynamically in response to game conditions.

2. Houdini

Not only known as 3D software, with the help of nodes and networks, you can create complex and dynamic 3D content using Houdini. This allows you more freedom and control over how you create, modify, and reuse your character rigs, animations, and effects. In order to bring a character to life in Houdini, you must first choose the rig controls and then keyframe the changes they transform.  To help you with controlling your animation curves and keys, Houdini provides a timeline and a dope sheet. Additionally, you can edit the animation data in a spreadsheet format by using the Animation Editor. The Animation Mixer allows you to create and edit animation blends, layers, and clips. Additionally, you may apply procedural animation effects like cycles, restrictions, and noise using the CHOPs context.

3. Blender

Blender is a free and open-source 3D computer graphics software toolset used for creating animated films, visual effects, art, 3D-printed models, motion graphics, and video games. 

Blender can support Polygon meshes, NURBS surfaces, and the B-mesh modeling system. Additionally, there is an advanced polygonal modeling system that may be accessed via an edit mode. It supports features such as extrusion, bevelling, and subdividing. You can create smoke, rain, dust, cloth, fluids, hair, and even rigid bodies with a blender. Keyframed animation features in Blender include inverse kinematics, constraints, vertex weighting, armatures, shape keys, curve and lattice-based deformations, and hooks. Moreover, 2D animation is possible within a complete 3D workflow thanks to its Grease Pencil tools.
