How to install OctaneRender Prime Free Tier for Blender

You will need to prepare some of the following:

      • OctaneServer Prime
      • Blender application

Step 1) You login your OTOY account download the version of OctaneRender Prime for Blender and OctaneServer Prime. If you don’t have an account yet, please register first.

To download them, you should go to Shop > Free Trial > OctaneRender Prime (Free Tier) > Try now.

It will then lead you to End User License Agreement and Further Notices. You should click Accept.

Step 2) There are three OS Windows, macOS and Linux you can download from. Now you should select which one you use. Here we select Windows. We will download OctaneRender Prime for Blender and OctaneServer Prime.

Step 3) Now OctaneRender Prime for Blender and OctaneServer Prime are both downloaded to your computer. Go to the folder you saved them and start to install. 

Next, you should run the OctaneServer Prime and log in by your account you just registered, Sign in to activate it.

Step 4) In this step, we will install OctaneRender for Blender. Find the downloaded file previously, follow the steps to install it. 

Step 5) After installing those two files, we open Blender application to check if Octane Render engine is activated. To do this, you go to Edit > Preferences > Add-ons > Render: OctaneRender engine. Check it if it’s not activated.

Step 6) Now you can go to Blender’s Render Properties panel to set up Octane as your rendering engine.

Because this Free Tier can only use 1 GPU, so if you have more than one graphics card, you can select which one is assigned to Octane by clicking Device Preferences and tick the GPU you want to use.

Now you have succeeded in installing the OctaneRender Prime Free Tier for Blender and can start using it.
